Zimbabwe is definitely an underrated gem which is why we will call it Great Zimbabwe. On a real note – the name of Zimbabwe stems from this countries national kingdom in Masvingo. Zimbabwe is a beautiful African country with many best kept secrets to make your travels unforgettable, rich in resources and hardworking friendly people. Despite political turmoil, it is a rewarding travel destination. Much of Zimbabwe’s tourism industry revolves around its incredible natural beauty
Indulge yourself in that travel adventure, a quiet getaway, or a fun business trip, or that luxurious vacation and even that road trip! Zim has so many opportunities that don’t always have to long vacations – you have so many weekend getaways or even day trips. Given, I am Zimbabwean – I will be honest that my true Zim experience wasn’t until in 2017 when I toured diverse parts of the country with family and friends. From then on continue to indulge – lets dare to discover and make memories.

Camping – Absolutely a yes! There are so many beautiful camps across the country and yes again absolutely comfortable places with all amenities and more. You are in the nature, safely hosted and set to have the most unique time of your life. Zimbabwe hosts one of the most renowned safari region in the continent and sits close to so many bordering neighbours where you can extend day trips. Thinks twice next time you have Zim on your bucket list and consider mixing up your accommodations as the country has so many glamping spots.
Food adventures – This country is underrated when it comes to food experience. The traditional cuisine is slapping and healthy. If you have never had peanut butter and cream in your greens – you are missing out friend. Be sure to have traditional meals like “sadza rezviyo or mhunga” with greens (tsunga/ muboora onedovi) plus inyama ( game meat here included – crocodile, ostrich ) and some not so traditional stuff like Umumbu- Chibage – Maize Corn. All in all the Zim cuisine is worth the devoted experience and search for the hidden places with the good stuff.
Scenic roadtrips – off road tracks are probably your best choices when it comes to getting to the remote beautiful secret hideouts. It is certainly worth to travel my road when navigating within the country – having your own car is highly recommended as it gives you more easier access to do the off road parts. However for major city hopping – there is a wide array of transport available to you.
Unlock New wellness actvities – If you have ever wanted to try sailing, fishing, bungie jumping, diving …this is the place to do so without feeling overwhelmed. Especially fishing . Also braai- ing is a skillset, Zim is the place to become a master grill master,
Best Experience – Almost getting reservation for Beks Ndlovus renowned place in Matopos (Khayelitshe House) – key word being “almost”.This led to discovering more beautiful camps in the area as you already can guess, didn’t manage to secure the dates for Beks property. Experiencing smaller cities outside the buzz of the big city. Haven’t been to Harare in years and planned for it to remain that way if it wasn’t for family been there (Bulawayo, Mutare area, Kadoma – are some of my best cities : offering serendipity and having many – Metopos and Mtaradzi!) One of the most memorable experience was in Mutare – at Mutaradzi falls – we arrived when it was so foggy which was a bummer , however as time went by as the fog began to wear out – what appeared was the best view I had ever seen and the tour guide was such a vibe throughout it all.
